Inter Provincial and National Groups - Practice Notice from Paula

All workouts this weekend for the Inter Provincial and National groups will be in Saint John Long Course and regular workout times at UNB are cancelled due to LC training in Saint John.
Coach Paula.
Fredericton Aquanauts Celebrate a Great Year

Swimmers and families from the Fredericton Aquanauts Swim Team celebrated a very successful year last night at their Annual Year End Banquet. Over a hundred people gathered to honour our swimmers and the families that support them.
Trophies were awarded to the Top Swimmer in each age group. These swimmers had the fastest times in each of their respective age groups. Those are as follows:

10 and under girls: Cassidy Richards
10 and under boys: Eric Meng
11-12 girls: Katarina Schatz
11-12 boys: Alex Horwood
13-14 girls: Lauren Adam
13-14 boys: Mark Garland
15-17 girls: Danielle Merasty
15-17 boys: Chris Garcelon
The overall top swimmer from the FAST was Danielle Losier. Danielle was the top female winner at the Swim NB banquet last weekend. She has smashed NB records in both short and long course this year. Danielle competed in the Beijing Olympic Trials in Montreal earlier this spring. She is so deserving of the title “Top FAST Swimmer”.
Another special award was given to the swimmer who had the greatest improvement. Rachael Martin started swimming just a few short years ago. She works so hard every day and has improved to be a force to be reckoned with in the pool, especially if you’re willing to race her in the 800 meter or the mile!! Way to go Rachael!!!
Rene Boudreau was presented by Ruth Hawkes with the Marianne Limpert Scholarship. Boudreau was also a NB record breaker this year with his 200 back stroke performance at the East Coast Swim Championships in PEI this past March. He attends Ecole St Anne and is the first swimmer from his school to receive this honour.
We also honoured our graduating swimmers who are leaving our program this summer. Sarah Hebb, Rene Boudreau, Jacqueline Soicher, and Danielle Merasty will all be missed by the FAST family.
Our Fast swimmers are holding an Open House this coming Thursday the 19th of June from 6:30-7:30 at the UNB Pool. Our Acting Head Coach, Paula Crutcher would like to invite all kids who would like to check out the FAST program. Swimmers vary in ability from the Olympic Hopefuls to the learn to swimmers. Since this year is an Olympic year, it is the perfect time to try out this exciting sport where “no child sits on the bench”. See you at the pool….

This past week end Swim NB honoured all those swimmers who raced to be the top ten in each swimming event for the year at the Annual banquet. We would like to recognized those great swimmers .
