Thank You

Hello FAST families,

I want to thank all those swimmers and their parents who attended our annual swim-a-thon.  It was great to see so many of our younger swimmers.

Our top fundraisers for this year's event were as follows:
  1.  Lauren Babcock (Novice 1) who won a swim bag with our FAST logo on it.
  2. The Thibodeau family (Maxime and Chloe) Novice 3 and 1 respectively,  who won a shoulder bag with the FAST logo.
  3. Rowan Amos (Age Group 3) who won Empire Theatre movie money.
Our top fundraiser for Fishes was Jack Roy who also won Empire Theatre movie money.

I would like to thank all the families for bringing the snacks for the swimmers to enjoy after their swim.  The left over juice boxes will be saved and used for our end of year banquet.  All other food that was left was donated to both the men's and women's Emergency Shelters on behalf of FAST.

Lastly, I would like to thank Marta and all the assistant coaches for coming out to help make the swim-a-thon a success.

This club is great because of the dedication of the coaches, volunteers, swimmers and their families.  I look forward to see FAST continue to grow!

Have a great March Break,
Dawn

Dryland - AG2

Hello Swimmers and Parents,

Starting March 8th we'll be following new swim schedule that will involve one dry land session at Kingswood. Our older 2 groups have already started with two sessions a week. For this group-AG2 we have scheduled one dry land session on Wednesdays from 4:15-5:30pm. As mentioned at the parents meeting this is our first step towards establishing regular dry land program in the future. PLease let me know by Feb 25th if your swimmer will be joining dry land program. Once I know the number of swimmers participating I'll be able to send out the monthly fee. The more swimmers we have doing the program the cheaper will get.
PLease get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

 Thank you,

Open Space Forum

Hello FAST families,

Marta and I have been attending meetings of the Capital Region Aquatic Facility Team (C.R.A.F.T.) which represents all the user groups at the Sir Max Aitken Pool. We realise that the pool is aging and are attempting to have a new competitive aquatic facility built in Fredericton.  The Currie Centre at U.N.B. will not have a pool and the new Y.M.C.A will not have space to accommodate all the user groups from our pool.

I would therefore like to bring your attention to an Open Space Forum that has been organised by the City of Fredericton through Fredericton Social Innovation.  It will take place at the Capital Exhibit Centre on Thursday Feb18 (6pm – 9pm), Friday Feb 19 (8am – 4.30pm) and Sunday Feb 20 (9am12 noon) and is advertised as 'How do we work together to make Fredericton better?' It is for all ages, all groups, business, government and volunteer organisations. To learn more and register online, the website is www.fsi-isf.ca , the e-mail is Admin@fsi-isf.ca and the phone number 261-1229. I have sent them an e-mail on behalf of FAST, but would like to encourage as many swimmers and parents as possible to attend, in order to make it known that we are in need of a new competitive pool in the city for our swimmers.

Team Photo

Good afternoon parents,

In our ongoing quest to have a new competitive pool built in Fredericton, we may be contacting the media to get them involved in publicizing the fact that the U.N.B. pool needs to be replaced.  One idea is to send them our team photo to be used in an article. I just want you to be aware of this and let us know if you have any issues with your childs team photo being used in this way.

Thank you,

Jennifer Adam
