Swimmers who are participating in 10 and under meet on Saturday, March 31st are asked to be on pool deck at 12:45pm. The warm up starts at 1pm and we need to get swimmers organized as it will be very busy and crowded.
The meet will finish approximately around 6pm.
Swimmers are asked to stay on the pool deck and not visit parents up in the stands. Anyone leaving the pool deck is asked to report to one of the coaches.
Attached you'll find swimmers events. Please note there will be no changes in events swimmers are entered. Coaches will do their best to put relay teams together on the day of the meet.
All competitive swimmers who have team suits or caps are asked to wear their team gear. For swimmers who are in Fishes or Sharks group please wear your regular bathing suit.
Make sure you have an extra towel and goggles.

Key Words - Swim Parent News for Week of March 12

Week of March 12, 2012
Please send comments or subscription requests to news@swimmingcoach.org
=====================================================================

Key Words
Guy Edson

In the process of teaching swimming skills coaches often use "key words."  Key words are a way to sum up a whole bunch of paragraphs into two, three, or four words that are easy for the swimmer to remember.  Coaches ask swimmers to recall the key words as they do a skill.

I came across an article entitled "88 Ways to Say "Very Good!" on www.gym.net, written by Gymnastics Risk Management and Consultation Michael A. Taylor coacht@gym.net .  As I read down the list I thought of the concept of "key words" for swim parents who want to give emotional support for their children's progress without getting into technical details of stroke, splits, starts, etc.

I selected the last 23 items from the list and present them here.  Catch yourself using them!

You're doing beautifully
You're doing fine
You're getting better every day
You're learning fast
You're on the right track now
You're really improving
You're really working hard today
You've got it made
You've got that down pat
You've just about got it
You've just about mastered that
You are doing much better today
You are really learning a lot
You are very good at that
You certainly did well today
You figured that out fast
You got it
You make it look easy
You must have been practicing
You out did yourself today
You really make this fun
You remembered
Your practicing has really paid off

Please help us out

Dear Parents,

On March31st our club is hosting a 10 and under Fun Meet. We are asking all parents who can donate any prizes to help us out. This could be company key chains, water bottles, pins,  etc. No prize is too small. If you are able to help us out please contact Marta at swimming@rogers.com  or drop them off at the pool by Thursday.

 Thank you,

Marta

Olympic Trial camp information

Hello Athletes and Parents,

Less than One week to go before the Olympic Trial camp!

Please find attached the bus stop itinerary for the trip to and from Montreal for the Olympic Trial Camp.  Please be sure to be at the bus stop before the estimated arrival time.  All the bus times are approximate.  If you are unexpectedly delayed please notify a chaperone as soon as possible.

Once the swimmer boards the bus on Friday March 30 they must remain with the team at all times until they are dropped back off at their bus stop on April 02 2012

Please remember to pack a good sized lunch for the trip to Montreal!  The team will not eat until 7:00pm Friday evening.

NO Peanuts, Nuts  or foods containing nut or peanuts and  NO Seafood  are allowed at any time!  Please be  sure to not bring  anything that contains these products.  We will have swimmers who have severe allergies to these products.  Snacks will be provided to the swimmers  but if you wish to include your own snacks please keep the no nuts and no seafood restrictions in mind.

I have attached the contact information of the Chaperones, Hotel and Bus. Please use the chaperones cell numbers for emergencies only.  If you wish to speak with your swimmer, please call the hotel to have your call forwarded to their room.  Swimmers will not be permitted to call out from the hotel.   Swimming New Brunswick will not cover any incidental charges on the rooms.  All incidental charges will be passed on to the occupants of that room.

The hotel has double beds only.  For this reason we have put only three swimmers to a roomPlease bring your own air mattress if you would prefer an air mattress to sharing a bed.  We will have a few air mattresses but only a few.

Don't forget to bring
·         Lunch for the bus – remember no nuts or seafood
·         Swimming gear
·         Walking shoes/ runners – swimmers will be walking to the restaurant etc,
·         Air mattress is you think you will want one.

Outstanding Accounts

Hi Folks,

A couple of weeks ago, you should have all received an updated account balance from our treasurer, Ron Richards.
If you did not receive one, please let us know as a number of the email addresses that he had used bounced back to him.

We are asking that all accounts be settled asap. If your swimmer has a balance owing, your swimmer will NOT be allowed to swim in any of the upcoming meets. This includes Fredericton, Gagetown, Marianne Limbert team Champs, etc.

We appreciated your cooperation,
Heahter

Good evening Fishes and Novice parents,

10 and under Meet Prizes

Hi Folks,

As you all already know, Fast is hosting the NB 10 and under Swim Meet on Sunday March 31st. We are looking for donations for the winners of the "special surprise" heats. We like to have a high ratio of prizes to swimmers.

The donations last time included branded giveaways like water bottles to hats or Frisbees. We also had cool summer stuff like beach balls etc. Soooo if you work for a place that has cool stuff, we would love any or all donations...

Thanks in Advance,
Heather

FAST FUN Meet, March 31st/12- OFFICIALS NEEDED and TIME CHANGE

"Hey folks hope you all had a great break.

We are getting ready to host the U10 Fun Meet, Sat March 31st. It is now taking place in the AFTERNOON.

We are still in need of Timekeepers and Level 2 and over officials.

You do not need any experiece to time. We do an orientation on how to timekeep that day. If your child is swimming in this meet, a parent of the swimmer is strongly recommended to be helping.

Coaches could you please discuss this with your swimming parents, as for many it will be their first swim meet experience and they may be feeling a bit lost.

Officials are requested now to come to the Official's rm(TBA) for 1pm(a sign will be posted) and the meet is expected to finish by 6pm.

Let me know directly at the email below if you can help.

Thanks everyone, see you there,

Patti Ramsey FAST Meets/Officials"
