FAST hosts Marianne Limpert NB Team Championships
Mark your Calendars!!!
For the 3rd consecutive year, FAST will be hosting the annual Marianne
Limpert Team Champs at the UNB Pool between April 30 and May 3, 2009.
This exciting provincial level competition will attract between 200 to
250 swimmers from across the Province. This provides us an opportunity
to showcase FAST by organizing a first rate event. Also, a swim meet of
this size presents us the opportunity to fundraise in the order of $5K
to $7K for FAST. Fundraising represents approximately 20% of our annual
budget which is in the order of $110K.
Needless to say, a three day event of this size requires a lot of
helping hands for success. We will require the help of many of our swim
families. Year to year, many new swim families have become involved to
help us along. Here are a few of the related tasks:
* Meet Manager - Claudette Young
* Food donations for the canteen (all) - Lots of Food required!
* Food donations for officials... - Hospitality (Susan Colpitts) (all) - Lots of Food required!
* Canteen (Norma Losier)
* Timers (Grace Martin + volunteers)
* Officials (Ruth Hawkes + many volunteers)
* Program preparation (Michael Schatz and Mark McCarthy)
* Meet advertising sales (Ron Richards/Michel Losier) - (help wanted ! please refer to the attachment from Ron Richards)
* Set Up and Tear Down (Bob Garland)
* Opening Ceremonies (Michel Losier)
* Announcer for finals (TBD)
* T-Shirts and Medals (Heather Horwood, Pat Ketterling & Michele Reid)
For new swim families, this provides a great opportunity to get a first
hand feel for a provincial level swim competition. Swim racing is also a
fun and energetic environment. Volunteering is a rewarding experience
and sets a great example for the swimmers who in the end are the reason
that we do what we do. I invite swim families from all groups including
the Fishes. The younger kids will enjoy watching the racing and also
getting a feel for this environment.
We also accept donations for food, prizes, medals, advertising... from
various connections that our swim families may wish to approach. For
example, FSI (Fredercton Sports Investment) donated $600. towards our
cost of medals for the kids. Subway is also willing to help us again
this year. Well Appreciated! Other ideas: wholesalers, grocery stores...
Thanks in advance for your consideration
Let's show the Province what FAST is all about once again!
Thanks, Michel
